SHOPPERS DRUG MART DONATES $10,000 IN SUPPORT OF EXPANDING BREAST CANCER SERVICES AT SMGH

Drew Peddie, Strathroy Shoppers Drug Mart Associate-owner, presented the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation with a donation of $10,000 that will be used to assist with the expansion of breast cancer services soon to be available at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.

Specifically, the donation will provide program funding for a Breast Health Navigator (BHN). An integral part of the proposed Breast Assessment Program, the BHN is the advocate, guide and support for our breast cancer patients and their families.

On hand to accept the donation from Drew Peddie was Chris Das, and Dr. Nancy Naylor, fundraising campaign co-chairs along with Susan McLean, CEO of the SMGH Foundation.

Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix believes that when Canadian women are healthy and well, Canada is healthy and well. Support from the company plays a significant role in improving women’s overall health and well-being through Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix WOMEN, which has committed in excess of $40 million over five years to support this cause. Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix Associate-owners are dedicated to serving the health care needs of patients and customers in their communities. Supporting local, regional and national women’s health organizations is a passion shared by all Associate-owners, their store teams and our central and regional office employees.

“We are just so grateful for the on-going support of the Shoppers Drug Mart in Strathroy.” says Susan McLean.   “This generous donation will support the Breast Health Navigator position and will help the Foundation get even closer to the goal of $5 million for the program.  There is a tremendous need to provide more local diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, an illness affecting 1 in 9 women in South-Western Ontario.
